Touch ability stops working after I switch logic board

I have researched this question, and it seems the easy answer is yes. I have a brand new LG K20 Plus that has a cracked screen. I attempted to repair it myself, and while trying to remove the glue, I, inadvertently scraped off a part of the black stuff below the glue. Instead of buying a new display that I would still have to install, I bought a phone with a bad esn to put my logic board into. I read on several posts that this is ok and will work. For me, it isn't. When I turn the newly purchased phone on, it is locked but everything works. When I put my logic board into that phone, the touch won't work. Is there something that I'm missing that I'm suppose to do? I'm so frustrated and confused and I really don't want to keep taking things apart to troubleshoot because I'm afraid I'm going to break something else. Could someone please let me know why the touch stops working when I put in my original logic board. Thank you so much!!
