Android Sd Card Checking

I recently got a trek 2 tablet and put my 64 GB sd card in it, after research and fiddling I figured out that I have to link the sd card to my tablet in order to move apps there. This was quite frustrating since I had so much stuff on the card already. A few days later I tried to install a new app and it wouldnt work, so I restarted my tablet. I got a message saying reinsert SD card. I had never removed it. So i took it out and put it back in, then under storage it showed as checking for about 20 minutes then finally showed corrupted and wants me to format it again.

The sd card has apps on it, will formatting again erase all my apps and data, or completely corrupt my system? is this the reason I cant install apps? (error 491) I do not have options to clear cache and data under google play services.
